UFC BACK WITH SOME SERIOUS BANG!

Sports fans were treated to one of the best UFC cards seen in years. The event had a bit of everything - big knockouts, stand-up slugfests, controversial stoppages, suspect scoring and an epic main bout. Dominick Cruz, who had his fight ended prematurely in his view by referee Keith Peterson, even claimed that the ref smelled of cigarettes and booze!

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: As the first sport back since the coronavirus shutdown and despite having an empty, fan-less arena, the event was an overwhelming success. There was so much action we barely noticed the lack of fans.

WHO DODGED FERGIE'S INFAMOUS HAIR DRYER?

Ryan Giggs has revealed the four Manchester United players who were never on the receiving end of Sir Alex Ferguson's in-your-face dressing downs otherwise known as the "hairdryer". We know one of them wasn't David Beckham who famously once took a flying boot to the face. Can you guess who the four were?

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Send your answers on the back of a postcard but if you can't wait that long ... here they are: Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo. What they had in common was that they were all match winners and Ferguson knew not to mess with them as they could deliver at any given moment. Apparently Cantona would have games where he didn't run much or do anything on the pitch but Ferguson would leave him alone as he would win a game on his own the following week.

PROJECT RESTART ON SHAKY GROUND?

Plans for the restart of major European football leagues hang in the balance as a number of players have tested positive for Covid-19, including an ENTIRE German second division team. England have 3 positive tests (all at Brighton), Spain 5, Germany 10 (excluding Dynamo Dresden's team), Portugal 3, Italy 11 and Turkey 2. There is a big meeting set for today to decide on the next steps for "Project Restart" which is the code name for the re-opening of the Premier League season.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: The UFC proved it can be done if managed well. That said, team sports are a different ball game with so many more athletes involved. We are in favour of giving it a try but can see that in the event of an entire team being quarantined for 2 weeks, it could put a serious spanner in the works ... particularly in a crowded fixture list.
