SPURS TOP OF THE POPS IN VALUE

A financial report by a UK university has delivered some surprising results. Tottenham come out ahead of rivals Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City in terms of club value. The report cited their appearance in the Champion's League final on a player wages budget that was significantly lower than the rest of the so-called "Top Six" as key. They also had a transfer deficit that was the second lowest in the Premier League with just Watford spending less. Added to this, their new stadium was deemed to have the most commercial value. For reference the top six in order: Spurs (£2.6bn), Manchester City (£2.2bn), Manchester United (£2.1bn), Liverpool (£1.6bn), Arsenal (£1.4bn), Chelsea (£1.2bn).

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: This report raises two key questions: 1. Why on earth was Mauricio Pochettino fired after delivering all of that??? 2. Why has Daniel Levy originally find the need to furlough staff??

FRANCE'S BAN ON SPORTS HAS REPERCUSSIONS

France's decision yesterday to ban all competitive sports on French soil until September has some serious repercussions for various sports codes. Firstly, it means the French soccer Ligue 1 has been  cancelled, meaning PSG will be crowned champions. That's the good news for them (was their title ever in any danger anyway?) The bad news? They will have to play their remaining Champions League matches away from home. That is a major disadvantage. The Tour de France, already moved to 29 August, will need to be shifted again while the rugby's Top 14 League would also be canned, at the semi-final stage no less.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: With so many unknowns out there, it's hard to say what is right and what is wrong when it comes to these decisions. Is working in a supermarket less dangerous than playing a game behind closed doors? Needless to say the pressure on other leagues to follow suit will be increased.

FAKE CROWD NOISE

SkySports and BT Sport are likely to offer viewers the option of listening to simulated/recorded crowd noise during matches behind closed doors in order to improve the atmosphere for the viewer. Clubs are also considering pumping crowd noise into stadiums in order to give their players a lift during home games.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Broadcasters and clubs were always going to need to add some creativity in order for the product to remain relevant. It will be weird but we all have to get used to the "new normal."

FANS VOTE HENRY THE GREATEST PREMIER LEAGUE STRIKER EVER

A recent fan poll conducted on Twitter saw Arsenal legend Thierry Henry voted by fans as the greatest Premier League striker ever. He edged out the likes of Alan Shearer, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney, Dennis Bergkamp, Michael Owen, Didier Drogba, Ruud van Nistelrooy among others.

MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: We can't argue with that choice as Henry was special. Deciding on the greatest Premier League PLAYER would be a tougher choice though as you bring in the likes of Steven Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Roy Keane into the mix. Who would be your pick?
