Can you spot the mountain climber?

Cape Town - At first glance this looks like a shot of Scotland's stunning rugged mountainous landscapes – until you realise there's actually a climber scaling the rockface.

Dave MacLeod (40), a professional rock climber, snapped the images last week while visiting the Isle of Harris in Scotland.

Dave, who’s from Roy Bridge in Scotland, was on a climbing trip with his friend Keita Kurakami.

“I was there with two Japanese climbers and we were trying to climb some new routes on a cliff called Creag Mo,” he said.

“Between us, we climbed four new routes on these walls during the week, and I also tried a harder line that I didn’t succeed on this time and will have to make a return visit to make another attempt.

“Keita is climbing a route first climbed by myself a couple of years ago.

“Actually, he was doing this route as his warm-up climb for the day.

“Later he climbed a much harder new route on the walls to the left.”

Dave revealed that as a climber he loves to explore different places.

“People who are unfamiliar with the sport of rock climbing might think that because all of the mountain peaks in the UK have been climbed, there aren’t new challenges to be done.

“But as a rock climber, there are unclimbed walls all over the Scottish mountains, where no one has ever been

“As new-route climbers we get to explore these places all the time,” he said.
