Le Clos, Van der Burgh lead SA charge in China

Cape Town - Chad le Clos and Cameron van der Burgh will lead the South African contingent at the FINA World Championships (25m) in Hangzhou, China.

The championships are scheduled to get under way from December 11-16.

Team South Africa will consist of nine swimmers - six men and three women.

Van der Burgh and Le Clos will be making their fifth appearances in the FINA World Championships.

Le Clos will be looking to become the first male swimmer to win four consecutive 100m butterfly titles at the event, as well as his third 50m butterfly title.

The 26-year-old claimed the treble at the 2016 FINA World Championships in Canada - winning gold in the men's 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly - and also took silver in the 200m freestyle.

South Africa finished fourth on the medal table - winning four gold and a silver - in Windsor.
