Cape Town - South African star Chad le Clos eased into the final of the men's 50m butterfly at the 14th FINA World Swimming short course Championships in Hangzhou, China on Friday.

Swimming in the first of the semi-finals out of Lane 4, Le Clos stopped the clock in 22.34.
Le Clos' time was the second quickest overall, with world record holder in the event, Brazil's Nicholas Santos, leading the way in 21.96.
Earlier in the championship, Le Clos won the gold medal in the 100m butterfly and took silver in the 200m race.
Not to be outdone by his illustrious compatriot, Ryan Coetzee, swimming in the second semi-final, clocked 22.75, which was good enough for the eighth and final spot in Saturday's final.
