Kiev - Vitali Klitschko plans defend his heavyweight boxing title against Canadian Bermane Stiverne, the Ukrainian fighter told Tuesday's edition of the local Segodnya paper.
Klitschko, 41, did not say when and where the bout is to take place.
"There is an official contender - Bermane Stiverne. The fight will take place, we only have to set the date," Klitschko said.
Klitschko last defended his World Boxing Council title in September 2012 in Moscow against Lebanon-born German Manuel Charr.
Stiverne, 34, was won 23 of his 25 professional bouts, 20 of them by knockout.
Klitschko's boxing future was considered uncertain after a became a member of parliament with his opposition party Udar at the Ukrainian elections in October 2012. Members of parliament are not allowed to work in other areas under Ukrainian law.
