Supporters' guide to race day

Cape Town - So you’ve agreed to second and support your significant other, friend, brother, sister, mom, dad as they run the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon.

We’ve put together a list of things to help you make the most of this experience and to help you be the best supporter out there.

Cape Town residents and visitors to the city for the Easter weekend are encouraged to come along and support the runners as well.

The following spots have been identified as spectator “hot spots” and are great for watching the race and taking in the breathtaking views that Cape Town has to offer:

Main Road – Lakeside

Fish Hoek – Kommetjie Road

Silvermine Road intersection

Noordhoek Village – start of Chapman’s Peak

Constantia Nek – (Nedbank hosts Green Mile with five entertainment hot spots)

Cecelia Forest – along Rhodes Drive

Kirstenbosch Gardens

Union Avenue towards UCT

Old Mutual Two Oceans Fun Run/Walk:

Those not doing the ultra or the half marathon can enter the Old Mutual Two Oceans Fun RunWalk. These take place on Good Friday, April 3, 2015 at the UCT Sports Grounds commencing from 11:00. Participants can enter the 56m nappy dash (for kids 3 years and younger), a 300m Toddlers’ Trot (for kids between ages 4 to 7 years), 2.5km or 5km run/walk. There are plenty of lucky draw prizes up for grabs, as well as fun and games for the children on the UCT sports fields.

The world’s most beautiful marathon, the Old Mutual Two Oceans marathon, will be broadcast live on SABC 2 on race day. The ultra marathon starts at 06:30 and the half marathon starts at 06:00, with the live broadcast getting underway at 06:25 as well. The event will be televised until 11:00.
