Top 10 Sport24 videos of 2014

Cape Town – 2014 was fraught with tragedy in the sporting world, the deaths of Senzo Meyiwa and Phillip Hughes brought a sombre mood to players and fans alike.

The world cup was played under the hot Brazilian sun, but it was Luis Suarez who captured the headlines with another ‘cannibalistic’ streak on poor Italian Giorgio Chiellini.

Springbok legend Joost van der Westhuizen’s continued struggle with motor-neuron disease was brought to light when he paid a visit to the All Black’s training session.

A fake penalty shootout video went viral and our readers loved it so much they thought it might even be real! It did make us wonder if ‘goalkeeper’ Scott Sterling, could be better than Manuel Neuer.

Rugby fights were the flavour of the year, we have three in our top 10, but not all were very ‘manly’ brawls.

Finally Francois Hougaard got on the wrong side of Springbok fans during the end of year tour in a match against Wales, when he arguably made one of the dumbest plays of the year.
