Speedo named Sanlam Cape Mile swim partner

Cape Town - Speedo SA has been appointed as the swim partner of the Sanlam Cape Mile, organizers, Stillwater Sports, announced this week.

"The aim of the Sanlam Cape Mile is to create a special, well-organized, safe mass swim that is ideal for the whole family”, says Michael Meyer, Director of Stillwater Sports.

“The credibility and support of Speedo will assist tremendously in achieving this goal. Together with Speedo we look forward to building on the event year on year and believe that it will become a prominent fixture on the Cape Sporting Calendar”.

“We believe that the Sanlam Cape Mile has the potential to grow into one of SA’s premier open water swims,” said Stuart Hopwood, Speedo SA Brand President.

“The Sanlam Cape Mile offers the whole family the opportunity to participate in a fun swimming event while attracting some of the country’s top swimmers in what promises to be a thrilling race.

"We are hoping to offer swimmers and their families a thoroughly professional and enjoyable experience in and out the water, while inspiring and encouraging more people to choose swimming as their sport of choice and as a means to get fit.

"In this regard we’ve launched a global campaign called #GetSpeedoFit.” added Hopwood.

Event information:

An exciting and innovative open water swim, entrants can choose between an exhilarating 1 mile and a refreshing 500m swim.

The Sanlam Cape Mile takes place on Saturday, 14 February 2015 at the Eikenhof Dam, Grabouw Country Club (Western Cape).

It will cost R150.00 to participate in the mile while it will cost R50.00 to swim in the 500m event.
