Xasa named new sports minister in cabinet reshuffle

Cape Town - Tokozile Xasa has been named as South Africa's new Minister of Sport and Recreation.

This came after South African president Cyril Ramaphosa announced his first cabinet reshuffle on Monday evening.

She replaces Thulas Nxesi, who served in the position for little under a year.

Xasa, the former Minister of Tourism, holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Fort Hare, a BA degree from the University of Transkei and a BA Honours degree from the University of Fort Hare.

A former teacher, she has been a Member of Parliament since May 2009.
