Cape Town - President Cyril Ramaphosa has named a new Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture in his first cabinet on Wednesday evening.
Nathi Mthethwa replaces former minister Tokozile Xasa, with Nocawe Mafu as his deputy.
A member of parliament since 2002, Mthethwa previously served as the Minister of Arts and Culture from 2014 to 2019.
Mthethwa holds a Diploma in Community Development from University of Natal, Certificate in Mining Engineering from University of Johannesburg and a Certificate in Communications and Leadership from Rhodes University.
As Member of Parliament, he served as Chairperson of the Minerals and Energy Portfolio Committee from 2004 to 2008 and as Chief Whip of the ANC in 2008.
He also served on the Board of Directors for the 2010 Soccer World Cup Local Organisation Committee.
