Johannesburg - In an exciting announcement made on Thursday, Kwesé Sports has revealed that it has won exclusive rights to screen the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) across sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa where it holds non-exclusive rights.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in Africa continues its spectacular growth with this landmark deal struck between Kwesé Sports and the EFC.

The full 3-hour, live, main card broadcasts from the EFC as well as further support programming and action-packed bouts begin screening on on Saturday, March 5 at 20:00 CAT.

Fans can log on to watch all the action live from the highly anticipated EFC 47 event, at no cost, as part of a complimentary service currently offered online. The Kwesé Sports website also recently offered live screenings of fixtures from Spain’s prestigious Copa Del Rey, and includes comprehensive news and updates from the worlds of soccer, rugby and cricket.

Following a recent announcement, Kwesé TV is currently focused on the upcoming roll out of its services in sub-Saharan Africa, and Kwesé Sports is a key component of those plans. The latest acquisition is another highlight for the brand which is quickly making its mark in African sports broadcast.

“We are incredibly excited about this new broadcast partner,” stated EFC president Cairo Howarth.

“We believe that Kwesé Sports represents the future of sports broadcasting on the continent and will open many new opportunities to new and existing EFC fans to enjoy quality EFC programming.”

The partnership follows the consistently unparalleled growth of EFC since its inception in 2009, and the ever-growing mass interest in the sport of MMA locally and internationally. The landmark deal begins with the first EFC event of 2016 (EFC 47), headlined by Scottish champion Danny Henry and the undefeated Igeu ‘Smiley’ Kabesa on March 5, live from Carnival City in Johannesburg.

Producers of 10 live events annually, whose content is broadcast in 110 countries, EFC has sold out some of the biggest arenas in Africa. With over 120 athletes exclusively contracted to the organisation from countries such as Angola, the DRC, Nigeria, South Africa, Ireland, France, Poland and England, EFC showcases the greatest warriors in the world.

A sports entertainment phenomenon which has captured the attention of passionate and loyal fans throughout Africa and the world, EFC events and broadcast production has been described by international media and networks as some of the world’s best quality mixed martial arts content available.
