EFC Performance Institute to hold open day

Cape Town - The new EFC Performance Institute will stage an open day in Johannesburg on Saturday, allowing athletes and the public at large a chance to see what it has to offer.

From 08:00, numerous fitness and combat sports-related classes and demonstrations will take place at the training centre, which is kitted out by Technogym and includes a hexagon.

The EFC PI has also been designed to host grappling tournaments, press conferences and other events, with a grandstand and upstairs refreshment bar providing a clear view of the entire facility in Paulshof.

EFC president Cairo Howarth hailed the launch of the centre as a seminal moment in African MMA history.

A full-size EFC hexagon.

An OUTRACE Frame, one of the first in Africa, standing at 9m x 7m in the main functional training area.

The SKILLATHLETIC studio, which includes free-running SKILLMILL, SKILLROW and SKILLBIKE.

A Boxfit area, kitted out with 6ft boxing bags and other fitness equipment for daily use. Over 100m² of Zebra mats for wrestling or Brazilian Jiu-jitsu needs. Added to the area are several boxing bags, offering users the ability to mix up their grappling with some striking.

An Olympic lifting, free-weights and cardio area. Fitted with SIDEA free weights, assisted lifting machines, barbells, dumbbells and kettlebells, plus Technogym JOG Treadmills, Groupcycle spinning bikes and VARIO elliptical machines.
