SA women clinch series

Pretoria - A 1-0 half-time lead turned into a 4-0 victory for the South Africa women's hockey team in the third Test against Scotland at Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria on Sunday.

South Africa has clinched the five-Test series following their comprehensive 5-3 and 4-2 victories in the opening two matches.

On-song striker Celia Evans claimed a brace of goals, while debutante Toni Marks and double-Olympian Kathleen Taylor scored the fourth. Durban's Kelly Madsen won her 100th Test match

The Proteas fly to Buenos Aires on Wednesday night for a five-Test series against world number two Argentina.

Final two Tests against Scotland, on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, play a significant role in coach Giles Bonnet's greater preparations for the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

For their part, the Scots are working hard ahead of the Champions Challenge and Commonwealth Games tournaments in Glasgow.

The South African defence was up to the task of containing the Scottish threat and while the penalty corner count was shared four apiece, it was the hosts' confident finishing, especially from open play, that impressed.
