Cape Town - Chad le Clos has qualified for the semi-finals of the 100m butterfly at the Fina World Championship in Kazan, Russia.

Le Clos, who won the silver medal in the same event at the London 2012 Olympics, finished second in his heat in a time of 51.83.

Le Clos' time was the eighth-fastest overall and good enough to see him qualify for Friday evening's semi-finals.
