Cape Town - South Africa's Shireen Sapiro set an African Record in qualifying for the final of the women's 100m backstroke S10 at the London Paralympics on Tuesday.
Sapiro's time of 1:09.46 saw her head into Tuesday evening's final with a genuine medal chance, as she finished with the second-fastest time behind Australia's Sophie Pascoe (1:07.77).
The final is scheduled for Tuesday at 19:42 SA time.
Sapiro will be looking to make up for her disappointment last Saturday when she was disqualified from the heats of the women's 100m butterfly S10 when she failed to arrive on time.
