Serena snaps selfie with Wayde van Niekerk

Cape Town - Tennis superstar Serena Williams has snapped a selfie with South Africa's 400m gold medal hopeful, Wayde van Niekerk.

Williams will be gunning for the gold medal in both the singles and doubles (with her sister, Venus) in Rio, while on the track, Van Niekerk is favourite for the men's 400m title.

The heats for the 400m begin at 02:05 (SA time) on Saturday, August 13.

Van Niekerk also has the honour of carrying the SA flag at the opening ceremony.
