Rio de Janeiro - It took mere minutes for pranksters to hack South Africa swimmer Chad le Clos' Wikipedia page following his defeat to Michael Phelps in the 200m butterfly.
The first hack was in his biography section and said Le Clos had "died by the hands of Michael Phelps, being literally blown out of the water by the greatest American since Abraham Lincoln."
In the personal information section, it listed Le Clos' nickname as "Michael Phelps Pool Boy".
Minutes later, the nickname had been changed to "The guy who lost to Phelps".
Eventually, all the changes were removed.
Phelps won the event for his 20th gold medal, while Le Clos finished off the podium in fourth.
Le Clos upset Phelps at the 2012 Olympic Games in London when he beat Phelps in the 200m butterfly for his first gold medal and Phelps' first international loss in the event in a decade.
If anyone had forgotten they were rivals, they were reminded during the semi-finals when Phelps was caught shooting daggers at Le Clos in the warm-up room while le Clos shadowboxed. Le Clos later tried his own staredown on the pool deck before their semi-final swim.
After winning on Tuesday night, Phelps did the Dikembe Mutombo no-no-no
finger wag to let Le Clos know he's still the best in the world.
