Le Clos into 100m butterfly final

Cape Town - Chad le Clos has reached the final of the men's 100m butterfly at the Rio Olympics.

Swimming in the second semi-final, Le Clos touched the wall second in a time of 51.43.

Le Clos' time wound up as the second-fastest heading into the final, behind Singapore's Joseph Schooling's 50.83.

Michael Phelps, aiming for a 23rd gold medal, was the fifth-quickest qualifier in 51.58.

The final will take place on Friday night local time (03:12 on Saturday SA time).
