Cape Town - Canada's Eugenie Bouchard has confirmed she will partake in the Rio Olympic Games next month.
The former Wimbledon finalist had originally cited concerns over the Zika Virus, but has had a sudden about turn on the subject.
"I had concerns about going, of course because of Zika and my health and summer in general," said the 22-year-old at a press conference ahead of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
"I spent a lot of time making this decision, but in the end I know that I really want to go. I'll take all the necessary precautions."
Fellow Canadian and world number seven Milos Raonic has opted out of the event due to the virus.
Bouchard will feature in the women's singles and doubles draws, teaming up with Gabriela Dabrowski for the latter.
Since reaching the Wimbledon final in 2014 and cracking the top five, Bouchard has struggled with form, failing to go further than the third round in each grand slam of 2016 and slipping to world number 40.
