Johannesburg - South Africans visiting London during the Olympic Games will have a place to go if they feel homesick, Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula said on Monday.
He said there would be an eKhaya village, an initiative started at last year's Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, offering South African tourists local food and entertainment.
"We will have boerewors, Klipdrift (brandy) and Castle (beer)," Mbalula said.
"It will be South Africa's home away from home."
He was speaking at the Proteas cricket team's departure for a two-month tour of England. He said South Africans had gone to the eKhaya village after the Springboks lost to Australia in the quarterfinals of the 2011 global rugby championship.
Many South African rugby fans blamed New Zealand referee Bryce Lawrence for the team's playoff defeat.
"When we were robbed by Bryce Lawrence, that's where we went to console ourselves. In London, the eKhaya village will be the place to be."
