Cape Town - The National Assembly's sport and recreation committee congratulated South African's first two 2012 London Olympics gold medallists on Wednesday.
They are swimmers Cameron van der Burgh and Chad le Clos.
"These two gold medallists have made the whole country proud," Whip Mgolodi Dikgacwi said in a statement on behalf of the committee.
"We appreciate the hard work Chad and Cameron have put into their performances in the swimming pool. We acknowledge that such achievements do not come easily."
The committee also recognised the hard work and sacrifices made by both athletes' training teams and families.
"We further wish all South Africa's Olympic athletes well in their performances and in their pursuit of more medals," he said.
