Heat is on Le Clos, Schoeman

London – South Africa’s big medal hope in the 400m individual medley, Chad le Clos, has been drawn with favourite American Ryan Lochte in Saturday’s heats.

Le Clos and team-mate Riaan Schoeman have been drawn in the fifth and final heat (starting at 11:00 SA time).

Schoeman will swim in Lane 1 with Le Clos alongside him in Lane 2. Lochte will be in Lane 4.

Lochte’s main rival for the gold medal is expected to be 14-time Olympic gold medal winner Michael Phelps, who will swim in Heat 4.

The eight fastest swimmers out of the 38 entrants will qualify for the final on Saturday evening.
