Martial Eagle stuns J&B Met

2013-02-02 23:59

Cape Town - Martial Eagle (Yogas Govender/Aldo Domeyer) sprang an 80/1 shock to overcome a poor draw to land the prestigious Grade 1 J&B Met by a neck.

Hill Fifty Four at odds of 22/1 finished second with Beach Beauty finishing one and a half lengths back in third.

The win was only the second Met ride and first Grade 1 win for Aldo Domeyer, son of former champion jockey Andrew Fortune.

2/1 favourite Jackson finished a disappointing fifth, and second favourite, 2012 Durban July winner Pomodoro, finished in fourth.

Jackson collapsed from heat exhaustion and had to be washed down with a hose pipe after the LOrmarins Queens Plate, the horse should of been rested for at least 3 months, it was cruel to make it run in the J&B, just shows you what greed does and look at its result, supposedly the favourite and finishes 5th. To the owners shame on you. To the bookies and the winner, what a day!

Guinevere you embicile. It was 30 degrees celcius on course on Queens Plate Day and all the horses were hosed down after their races - some of them were even watered in the parade ring before their races. Jackson never collapsed - he was suffering mild distress - a bit like you actually, except that gelding will probably put that right for him. What a shame a similar treatment couldn't be administered to yourself.
