2. Greatest sporting moment for that you can recall: SA scoring 438 runs to beat Australia in their famous ODI clash at Wanderers in 2006. I was there and will never forget it!

3. Childhood sporting hero: Five-time Tour de France winner, Frenchman Bernard Hinault, his nickname is "The Badger"

4. Greatest sporting moment personally: Completing my 2016 Im’possible Tour over 967km in 46 hours 38 minutes and 20 600m vertical gain. It was more than double the longest distance I have ever ridden. Raising R1.2 million for Laureus with that ride was what made it the greatest single ride for me!

5. Game or sporting event that you could watch on repeat: Tour de France

6. Sea or river: River

7. Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate

8. Favourite holiday destination: Mauritius

9. Banana or pineapple on a pizza: Neither!

10. What would your last meal be: Sushi in a traditional Sushi restaurant in Japan

11. Favourite superhero and why: Mighty Mouse - because he doesn’t see a mouse when he looks in the mirror! ??

12. If a movie was made about your life who would play you: Keanu Reeves

13. 3 things you would want with you on a desert island: My fiancée, picnic basket and a satellite phone

14. Current series addiction: Chicago PD

15. Do you have a favourite joke: No, I was not invited when the joke telling talent was handed out

16. Best piece of advice you have ever received: Don’t let anyone stand between you and your dreams

18. How does Sport for Good relate to you: Sport has the wonderful ability to give each individual something to work toward, a goal to reach, a prize to win, a reward to get, friends to make, and fun to have. To make it possible for underprivileged children to enjoy these same benefits and values is the beauty of sport. What a joy to witness this first hand as a Laureus Ambassador through the projects they support. Sport truly does have the power to change the world!

19. Laureus programme that you have interacted with, and what they do: Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy. They use mountain bikes to teach kinds in Diepsloot township valuable life skills

20. What are you and/or your family doing over this time to ensure you keep mentally and physically healthy? We have ensured we maintain our own routines that work for us individually, from time spent working, to yoga and training, to alone time and quality time together. It’s easier for us as we don’t have young ones in the house.

Who is Laureus?

At the inaugural Laureus World Sports Awards in 2000, President Mandela said: “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Laureus combines Laureus Sport for Good, the Laureus World Sports Academy and Ambassadors Programme and the Laureus World Sports Awards to form a unique organisation that uses the inspirational power of sport as a force for good.

Laureus Sport for Good South Africa

The Laureus Sport For Good Foundation Trust South Africa is a local chapter of the Laureus Sport For Good Foundation. Launched in 2002, SA was the first regional office to be established by Laureus International.

What is the Laureus Sport For Good vision? “Using the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage. Proving that sport can change the world”. The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa supports over 30 projects nationwide. Every programme supported addresses at least one of the following six social issues, which are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: 

• Health: Enhancing mental wellbeing and encouraging healthy behaviour change

• Education: Increased access to and completion of education

• Women and Girls: Promoting equality, empowerment and safety

• Employability: Developing skills and creating pathways to employment

• Inclusive Society: Creating communities which embrace ethnic, cultural and physical differences

• Peaceful Society: Resolving conflict, promoting community peace-building and creating safe spaces
