Jordy Smith on top form

Cape Town - Currently placed fourth in the world, and on a world title hunt this year, Jordy Smith is looking the goods at this year's Mr Price Pro Ballito surfing event.

The waves have been small, but despite his size and weight, Jordy has been surfing fast and light-footed, and winning his heats with ease.

Jordy won his second round heat, eliminating Brazilian surfer Alejo Muniz and Hawaii's Ezekial Lau in the process, and went on to win his third round heat at the expense of Spanish surfer Aritz Aranburu and local Umhlanga surfer Beyrick de Vries. This win sees him leapfrog straight through to Round 5 (the round before the quarters).

With his eyes on the prize, and good boards underfoot, all bets are on Jordy winning this event and defeating his international counterparts in Ballito.

The event finishes on Sunday.
