Cape Town - Frankie Edgar thinks Nate Diaz could upset Conor McGregor at UFC 196.
Frankie Edgar is a man who knows what he wants. And that’s a shot at Conor McGregor’s UFC featherweight title.
Unfortunately for Edgar, the UFC doesn’t seem to share the same feelings.
With McGregor going in search of another record at UFC 196, before the wheels came off the bus, the featherweight division was frozen in place and with it the opportunity for any man to get a crack at the title.
With Dos Anjos falling out due to injury, Nate Diaz will fill in on 11 days notice and take on the Irish man in a welterweight bout.
Appearing on the latest episode of The MMA Hour the former lightweight champion gives Diaz a real chance at “spoiling the party” come fight night.
"I give him [Diaz] a real shot. His pressure and volume is just tough to deal with for anybody. You know, Conor’s biggest thing is range and length, he doesn’t have it in this fight. A southpaw against southpaw, I think a lot could happen there," said Edgar.
For Edgar the best case scenario would be that Nate Diaz goes in there on Saturday and beats McGregor.
In doing so Conor would possibly be forced to drop back down to 145 and defend his title against either Edgar himself or former champion Josè Aldo.
