Cape Town - When Dong Hyun Kim withdrew from his bout with Neil Magny at UFC 202 due to injury it was feared that no one would step up on just over a month's notice but Lorenz Larkin has saved the day on one of the biggest cards of the year.
Larkin (17-5, 1NC) is coming off a huge split decision victory over Jorge Masvidal in May. He has been widely considered as being one of the future stars of the sport and since his drop to the UFC's welterweight division he has gone on a nice 3-1 run includingg 2 knock out of the night bonuses over John Howard and Santiago Ponzinibbio.
Magny (18-4) is one of the world's most elite welterweight fighters having won 10 of his last 11 outings. The No.7 ranked Magny has some big names on his resume which include Kelvin Gastelum, Erick Silva and Hector Lombard.UFC 202 takes place on Aug. 20 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a rematch between the current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
Anthony Johnson and Glover Teixeira collide in the nights co-main event.
