Johnson: "I wanna fight at Madison Square Garden"

Cape Town - You can add a top 5 light heavyweight to the ever growing list of fighters wanting to get on the UFC's first ever visit to New York.

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson has expressed his interest in fighting at Madison Sqaure Garden during episode 3 of UFC 202 embedded.

"I wanna fight at Madison Square Garden," Johnson said.

"I wanna be on the first ever card for mixed martial arts and hopefully it's for the title. I definitely want to go down in history as one of those guys who had the opportunity to fight there."

Johnson (21-5) is just days away from his UFC 202 co-main event bout against fellow knockout artist Glover Teixeira with the winner possibly being next in line for the 205-pound title.

While both men have previously fought for the belt neither managed to get past their respective opponents with Johnson falling to Daniel Cormier and Teixeira at the hands of Jon Jones. These two outrageously strong punchers have a combined 30 knockouts between them so the odds of one man going to sleep on Saturday is very high.

For Johnson UFC 202 is just another stepping stone towards that gold and with a win over a tough opponent.

"Glover is a vet for sure, he's been in there with the best of the best and I just need to find an opening and that's it," Johnson said.

"Yes. The next title shot (is mine) and I'm doing everything I can to get it."
