EFC's rising star Northcutt faces "Bam Bam" Barberena

Cape Town - Bryan Barberena is undoubtedly the toughest test that young Sage Northcutt has ever faced in his career so far.

Stepping into face the rising star 'Bam Bam' is ready to show the world what he is made of in Newark, New Jersey on January 30 according to Nick Strickland from MMALatestNews.com.

Sage Northcutt (7-0) is a 19-year old rising star inside the UFC's Octagon.

First seen by Dana White on the pilot episode of 'Looking for a Fight', new hit reality show, he was immediately signed after an impressive performance and has gone undefeated in his first 2 fights with the promotion.

With all of his wins coming by way of stoppage (4 KO/TKO & 3 submission) Northcutt is a very dangerous fighter on both his feet and on the mat.

Now with his original opponent, Andrew Holbrook pulling out with an injury, Northcutt will face Bryan Barberena in a much-anticipated match up.

Barberena (10-3) is a dangerous fighter and a finisher having 9 of his 10 victories by way of stoppage (8 KO/TKO & 1 submission).

Now 1-1 inside the Octagon after coming off a loss to Chad Laprise back in April of 2015, 'Bam Bam' is ready to show the world who he is and what he is made of.

Having taken the fight while already in camp for an originally booked fight against Jonavin Webb in February, Barberena will be in good shape come fight night.

Admittedly being shocked at getting the fight, Barberena believes he will take advantage of the situation he finds himself in and hand the undefeated Northcutt his first loss.

Speaking to MMA Latest the 26-year old talks about his new opponent, motivation and how he feels the fight will end.

"I didn't campaign at all for this fight. I figured there'd be no way they'd give me him, then boom out of no where I got the offer," Barberena said.

"It doesn't bother me or motivate me (fighting the highly tilted Northcutt). I'm motivated enough already to fight whoever stands across from me in the cage. Everything will be shown on fight night. I'm coming out and going after my best performance and we'll see who the night favours."

With such hype and a buzz around 'Super Sage', Barberena is presented with a huge opportunity at de-railing the hype train surrounding the 19-year old.

"I've seen both of his fights. He's got some skills, but his competition hasn't been to my caliber. This fight ends with me getting my hand raised, whether it's a KO,TKO,sub or decision. I'm getting my hand raised," he added.
