Condit, Maia set to clash at UFC 202

Cape Town - Just as we thought we may never see Carlos Condit back in the cage it has been announced that he is set for action opposite the ever dangerous and streaking Demian Maia.

On Monday Condit teased fans and media with a tweet which immediately had the rumours flying. "Might have some news regarding my next fight soon... Stay Tuned."

Then late Tuesday the promotion announced that Condit and Maia have signed on the dotted line and will square off at UFC 202: McGregor vs. Diaz 2.

Condit (30-9) is coming off a close decision loss to Robbie Lawler in what was an amazing back and forth battle. After the fight the thought of retirement had crossed his mind but now the thought of challenging Brazil's Maia who is on the cusp of his own title shot has drawn the 32-year old back.

Maia (23-6) is currently riding a very impressive five-fight winning streak into the bout. Last in the octagon in March, the 38-year old submitted Matt Brown in the third round of their UFC 198 fight. Prior to the Brown victory Maia beat Gunnar Nelson, Neil Magny, Ryan LaFlare and Alexander Yakolev.

UFC 202 takes place August 20 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
