Hack donates Bafana shirt

Johannesburg - Former SAFA CEO Raymond Hack has donated his Bafana Bafana shirt, which is signed by Nelson Mandela, to the "Night of the Big Little Men", according to a Sowetan report.

This is a box-and-dine boxing tournament aimed at aiding Jacob "Baby Jake" Matlala. It will take place at Emperors Palace on Thursday night.

Hack's framed shirt is that of the match between the Mandela XI and the World Stars XI, at Ellis Park in 1999, which included Lucas Radebe, Kalusha Bwalya, Jorge Campos, Taribo West, and Abedi Pele.

Jeff Ellis, one of the organisers of the event, said Hack could easily have waited for the right time to sell the shirt for big money. Promoter Rodney Berman described Hack's gesture as another "example of the generosity people have demonstrated towards this event".

Various other sporting memorabilia, including Matlala's IBA and Old Buck belts, will be sold.

"I'm predicting huge bids on [Hack's shirt]," Berman said. "If the Madiba shirt is special, so are other items.

"They include boxing gloves signed by Manny Pacquiao, autographed Pelé and Ronaldo football gear and an autographed Madonna guitar."
