Khune's heroics not enough to keep SA Under-23s in Rio

Cape Town - Despite a series of impressive performances in goal, Itumeleng Khune's brillance hasn't brushed off on his team-mates.

Khune, one of two over-23-year-old players in the SA squad, was at his brilliant best in Rio, but sadly it didn't translate into the team reaching the playoffs.

The SA side started with a 0-0 draw against hosts Brazil, before losing 1-0 to Denmark.

A final group stage clash 1-1 draw against Iraq saw the SA side finish bottom of the group - and heading home.
