Trentin claims second-stage victory in Andalusia

Madrid - Italy's Matteo Trentin won the second stage of the Tour of Andalusia on Thursday while Belgian Tim Wellens retained the overall lead.

Trentin of Mitchelton-Scott, who posted a time of 5 hours 55 minutes 28 seconds over the 216.5km route, edged out the Netherlands' Danny van Poppel (Jumbo) and Spaniard Ivan Garcia (Bahrain) to claim victory.

Wellens finished 12th but held onto the leader's jersey, after winning the opening stage on Wednesday.

The third stage on Friday, a 16.3km time trial, will take place between Mancha Real and La Guardia de Jaen.
