Frascati - Spanish rider Dani Navarro has pulled out of the Giro d'Italia after suffering multiple fractures in a fall during Tuesday's fourth stage, his Katusha team said.
Navarro remains in a stable condition in intensive care in a Rome hospital, after crashing along with other riders, six kilometres from the finish line at Frascati, south-east of the capital.
The 35-year-old has a broken collarbone, three fractured ribs, and a punctured lung.
"He will be closely monitored in intensive care," the Swiss-based Katusha team said.
