'Voice of cycling' congratulates MTN-Qhubeka

Cape Town - The 'voice of cycling', Phil Liggett, has congratulated MTN-Qhubeka on becoming the first SA team to be invited to the Tour de France.

MTN-Qhubeka were on Wednesday among five wild card teams invited to contest this year's race, starting on July 4 in Utrecht.

MTN-Qhubeka will join another 17 teams in competing in the 102nd edition of one of the most gruelling events in world sport.

Liggett, 71, has covered 42 Tour de France races. He has strong ties with South Africa, owning a house in Cape Town and a game farm near the Kruger Park.
