Rosa wins Basque stage, Henao grabs lead

Arrate - Italy's Diego Rosa claimed the fifth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country on Friday as Colombia's Sergio Henao moved into the overall lead ahead of Saturday's concluding time-trial.

Astana rider Rosa remained out in front after an early breakaway to complete an impressive solo victory on the 159-kilometre route from Orio to Arrate.

Henao finished second, over three minutes in arrears, alongside Alberto Contador and is six seconds clear of the Spaniard going into the hilly 16.5-kilometre time-trial around Eibar.

Henao has been here before, leading going into the final stage timetrial only to miss out on the win in 2013 and 2015.

"I'm going to give my all right to the end," he said.

France's Thibaut Pinot, 10sec off the lead in third, said: "There are (time trial) specialists like Alberto Contador. Obviously we're not going to make it easy for him but it's not my speciality."

Dutchman Wilco Kelderman surrendered the yellow jersey after finishing outside the top 10 to tumble over a minute off the pace.
