Lausanne - Norwegian sprinter Alexander Kristoff of Katusha timed his run to perfection to pip Tinkoff-Saxo's Peter Sagan on the line in the seventh stage of the Tour of Switzerland on Friday.

"I could see I had him from a distance but doing it was tough as it was quite technical and slightly uphill," said Kristoff after his 18th stage win this season.

French climber Thibaut Pinot meanwhile held onto the overall leader's yellow jersey after the 164km run from Bienne to Duedingen.
