Cape Town - Mona Pretorius has claimed a bronze medal for Team South Africa at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

The South African weightlifter took bronze in the women's 63 kilogram class with an impressive lift of 206 kilograms - lifting 91 kgs in the snatch and 115 kgs in the clean and jerk.
Canada's Maude Charron took the gold by tying the total weight games record of 220 kgs in the 63-kilo class (98 kilos in the snatch and a games record of 122 kilograms in the clean and jerk).
Meanwhile, England's Zoe Smith edged Pretorius by a kilogram by finishing second at 207 kilograms (92 in the snatch, 115 in the clean and jerk).
South Africa currently have four Commonwealth Games medals, winning two gold (Henri Schoeman and Chad le Clos) and two bronze (Ryan Coetzee and Pretorius) thus far.
