Jobodwana survives false-start scare, joins Munyai in final

Cape Town - Team SA medal hopefuls Clarence Munyai and Anaso Jobodwana have both progressed to the final of the 200m at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, although there was a major scare for Jobodwana along the way.

Munyai finished second in his semi-final in a time of 20.36 with Canada's Aaron Brown winning in 20.18.

Jobodwana was up next and nearly had a catastrophic end to his campaign when he flirted with disqualification after seemingly jumping the gun off the starting blocks.

The call, however, was that Jobodwana would be allowed to continue.

He also eventually finished second in his semi-final, getting home in a time of 20.61 behind Zharnel Hughes from England (20.37)  

Both runners looked relatively untroubled, suggesting that they have plenty left in the tank for when it matters most on Thursday. 

Munyai wound up second-fastest overall, with Jobodwana in seventh.

South Africa, of course, won gold and silver in the men's 100m on Monday with Akani Simbine and Henricho Bruintjies finishing first and second, respectively. 

The final will take place at 13:56 (SA time) on Thursday.
