Johannesburg - The Minister of Sport and Recreation, Makhenkesi Stofile praised team South Africa for their performance at the recently completed Commonwealth Games held in Delhi.
"It (2010) has been a successful year for South Africa, and you have helped elevate the excitement of the South African people on the sporting front. To say we are proud of your achievements will be an understatement.
You have continued to make us proud." said Stofile
Stofile said the country needed to turn its attention to London's 2012 Olympics and hoped that the success at the Commonwealth Games served as motivation for an improved 2012 Olympic performance, when compared with the solitary medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
The South African team collected 12 gold medals, and 33 medals in total placing the green and gold fifth amongst the competing nations.
