London - Dereck Chisora could face a life ban after his press conference brawl with British rival David Haye in Munich.

VIDEO: Chisora spits in Klitschko's face

British Boxing Board of Control general secretary Robert Smith said on Monday a life ban was possible.

"Of course it is. The board have many powers; they can fine, they can suspend and they can withdraw a licence."

Chisora returned to the United Kingdom from Germany late on Sunday after his astonishing altercation with Haye, whom he threatened to shoot.

Chisora, who had been defeated by Vitali Klitschko in a WBC heavyweight title clash, was detained by police, along with trainer Don Charles, at Munich airport as he was preparing to board a plane home.

The pair gave statements, but were released on Sunday evening and allowed to return home.

German police have yet to speak to Haye after he disappeared after the unsavoury scenes at the Olympiahalle venue.

Haye does not have a British Board of Control licence, having officially retired in October. The governing body is unlikely to be able to sanction him, but they will continue their investigations into the weekend's events.

Smith said: " have to speak to the chairman of the boxing federation and the German police, the authorities, to see what the situation is with regard to them over there, and then obviously take the appropriate action.

"I will have to gather all the information from those authorities and put them before the main board of control.

"I've spoken to a number of stewards and I've spoken to the chairman on a number of occasions. I'll put something out as soon as possible, but it certainly will entail a hearing, a disciplinary calling, certainly for Mr Chisora because he is a licensed boxer. David Haye is a retired boxer; he's no longer a licence-holder with us."

Chisora's promoter Frank Warren claimed the blame for the disgraceful scenes in Munich should be shared rather than dumped solely at the door of his fighter.

"His emotions were high, his face was bleeding," Warren said.

"But it was unacceptable. I'm not trying to defend him. I'm just explaining the facts and what exactly did happen.

"What happened, as far as Dereck is concerned … threatening to shoot Haye … call it street talk, call it whatever you want; it's ridiculous, it's out of order, it's wrong.

“Nobody can condone that. Saying you're going to shoot somebody in front of 250 press people, to say the least, is a stupid remark.

"It was unacceptable. Everybody has to accept some responsibility … Dereck Chisora, David Haye, the British Boxing Board of Control, myself..."

Kick this muppet out, he's a disgrace to boxing. One only needs to look at how Vitali carried himself throughout this whole farce to see how a true champion should act

Look it was all in the plan he wanted to upset his opponent so Vitali loose contol of himself and then it will be a easy fight for him but Vitali did not loose control over himself and that make him a special boxer ,he is a good and great figther but his end is near .

Lets not look at at one isolated incident ! lets look at Chisora holistic actions. 1: He gets involved with Hayes banter( ok fine maybe he actions were defensive street behaviour and was antagonised) 2.he slaps Vitali at the weigh in - premeditated . 3. he then spits at Vitali If i had to some up point 2&3 Chisora didn't help his plead in case 1 therefore i can safely assume that he will shoot haye and that he is a ruthless dog with no respect for a sport never mind BOXING and he deserves nothing less that 10 year ban !so that when he returns his old and useless.
