Johannesburg - Entries for the Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards 2012 have now closed, with a record number of entries made during the submission window across 11 categories covering PR, marketing, sponsorship, advertising and design.

The Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards received more than 100 entries, with the likes of MSC SPORTS, Old Mutual, 34 Sport, Hi-Tec, Nike, Exp Agency, Nestle, Blue Bulls, Discovery, Brand Inc, DHL Stormers, SuperSport, Sporting Chance, KIA, Ajax Cape Town FC, Bidvest, Coca-Cola, Canterbury, JP Morgan, SARU, Garmin, MTN, NBA, Yellow Pages, Cell C, Samsung and Carling Black Label – just some of the names that have submitted their best campaigns of the year in the hope of winning one of the prestigious Awards.

The Award categories will be adjudicated by a Judging Panel featuring some of the leading figures in the industry, with the entire process independently audited by Deloitte.

Led by former SA rugby captain Bob Skinstad, the panel includes amongst others Gideon Sam, President of the South Africa Sports Confederation & Olympic Committee; Dr. Ali Bacher, Chairman Right to Care; and Nunu Ntshingila, CEO of Ogilvy South Africa.

The ceremony will once again be hosted at Emperors Palace, in the City of Ekurhuleni on 23rd February 2012.

Last year, over 1 000 guests attended the event together with the likes of Victor Matfield, Albie Morkel, Schalk Burger, Oscar Pistorius, Naas Botha, Ryk Neethling, Roelof van der Merwe, Natalie du Toit, and Vanessa Haywood alongside the agenda setters, decision makers and main stakeholders of the industry.
