Family holiday fun

Guaranteeing you and your whole family the best 10 days of your winter , the 28th Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival, which takes place from 1 - 10 July 2011 is set to be the biggest yet with over 100 sporting and lifestyle events for both young and old.

Children and families are the focus of this year’s festival so while parents are scrambling through the ancient indigenous forests of Knysna in the Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon, or navigating narrow footpaths along the western head in the Salomon Featherbed Trail Run, children have a whole host of exciting activities to keep them entertained.

Attracting more than 65 000 sporting enthusiasts, families on mid-year breaks, food and wine lovers and adrenalin junkies, the festival offers something for everyone, from running, cycling and adventure racing to wine and whiskey tastings, cooking competitions, food-and-wine pairings, gala evenings, live music, a specialized children’s programme and of course not to forget the oysters!

Throughout the entire 10 days of the festival children of all ages can take part in cycling races, dance, music and drama workshops for the energetic. And for the more creative there are art and craft classes, sand art workshops and fun cooking classes to keep them happy. Activities also include puppetry workshops, puppet shows, dress-up and face- painting classes and drama workshops

Other activities include a Sports Fair at Knysna High School, the Oyster Festival Dog Show and a Lazer Quest challenge. So choose your activity, pack up the family, get training and a book to be part of SA’s winter holiday destination of choice to make sure you anyour family don’t miss out.
