Cape Town - Despite the Lions currently leading the Overall Super Rugby standings, they won't reach the final, say leading SA bookmakers...

The Lions currently occupy top spot, although they have played five matches to date, more than any of their immediate chasers.

In fact, only the Stormers (eighth) and the Jaguares (14th) have been in action in all five rounds of Super Rugby this season.

The Johannesburg-based side are seeking a hat-trick of final appearances, having lost in the title showdown in both 2016 and 2017.

But they'll fall short of their goal if BET.co.za are to be believed.

The Hurricanes are the current title favourites (53/20), followed by fellow New Zealand sides, the Crusaders (7/2) and Highlanders (9/2).

The Lions are next best alongside the Chiefs at 27/4.

Somewhat embarrassing for the remainder of the SA teams, the Stormers are only 10th-favourites for the title (43/1), with the Sharks 12-best (57/1) and the Bulls a lowly 13th (71/1).

Even the much-maligned Australian sides feature more prominently than their South African opponents, something that was unheard of in recent seasons.
