accreditation

Cape Town - Your three-day preview of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

Tuesday, April 10

Chennai Super Kings 0.75 (Won first game) v Kolkata Knight Riders 1.05 (Won first game)

Betting:  CSK v KKR

Chennai Super Kings

CSK’s opening win was a nail biter against last year’s champions Mumbai Indians. After a terrible start and middle overs, Dwayne Bravo came to the rescue! His innings of 68 was the highest score by a number seven batsman in the IPL. They went on to notch up 47 runs in the last three overs to clinch the victory. This achievement broke another record as it was most runs scored by any team in a chase against the Mumbai Indians. CSK will look to take momentum from their win into next clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders, but will need to bat better at the top of the order.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Sunil Narine slammed a quick-fire fifty to help KKR beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by four wickets in their opening match of IPL. The experienced Dinesh Karthik eased the Knight Riders  to the total with seven balls to spare. With that result, KKR have a win percentage of 81.48 at Eden Gardens - 22 wins out of 27 games! They will look to take that impressive start and set their eyes on another win against the Chennai Super Kings.

Wednesday, April 11

Rajasthan Royals 0.85 (Lost) v Delhi Daredevils 0.95 (Lost)

Betting: RR v DD

Rajasthan Royals

What can we say about RR? Their opening match in IPL 2018 couldn’t have gone worse for the men from Rajasthan. Terrible running between the wickets, woeful batting and poor bowling led to a 9 wicket drumming from the Sunrises Hyderabad. There isn't much to say other than they have to bounce back!. Australian legend, Shane Warne, had his say on Twitter: “Very disappointing first game for all of us @rajasthanroyals to say the least. We have a very good squad and will bounce back strongly! Do not write us off - as it’s a very long tournament!”

Delhi Daredevils

Delhi’s opening game marked their sixth consecutive loss in an opening match of a season. So their loss against the Kings XI Punjab was no surprise. They were outplayed and outclassed by a magnificent half century from KL Rahul but will look to bounce back positively. Gautam Gambhir scored his 36th fifty and holds the most IPL joint most 50’s by any batsman, along with David Warner. If he can continue this impressive run of form, he will be able to hold fort while others score freely. They will without a doubt bounce back from their opening defeat.

Thursday, April 12

Sunrisers Hyderabad 0.80 (Won) v Mumbai Indians 1.00 (Lost)

Betting: SRH v MI

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers opened their account with a dominant performance over the Rajasthan Royals as they won by 9 wickets on Monday night. SRH were clinical with the ball and in the field, and restricted the visitors to a paltry 125/9. Star batsman, Shikhar Dhawan made light work of the total with a dazzling half century. All in all, SRH could not have asked for a better start to IPL 2018. They will look to capitalize on the Mumbai Indians poor start to the campaign on Thursday by piling more misery on the visitors.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai have had a solid start to their campaign and would have felt confident for the opening 37 overs of the match. A destructive 3 overs by Dwayne Bravo took the game away from Rohit Sharma’s men and left them questioning their death bowling. A lose in their opening fixture would have affected their confidence but will take several positives from the match and will look to rectify their errors in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Don't write off the previous champions!
