WATCH: Hurdler faceplants in desperate push for gold

Cape Town - A video showing an American hurdler diving towards the finish line - and faceplanting in the process - has gone viral on social media.

College athlete Infinite Tucker was competing in the 400m hurdles at the SEC Championships on Sunday.

The race was down to Tucker and his rival Robert Grand in the closing metres with both men pushing towards the finish line with all they had.

Tucker, however, clearly wanted it more as he launched himself towards the finish line with a dive that saw him win gold in comical and desperate fashion.

It looked a painful end to the race for the man dubbed 'Superman' on social media in the hours that followed, but it was all worth it in the pursuit of victory!
