Highlight of the year:

This goes to Team SA’s performance at the Olympics.

It was the best medal tally since the country’s readmission and the overall camaraderie of the team, and how it got South Africa positive again, was commendable.

Lowlight of the year:

When Baroka FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke scored against Pirates.

Significant moment of the year:

Because I’m so family orientated, having my family with me at the Games was incredibly significant for me.

Because I’m so close to athletics, and because he is one of my closest friends, I’d have to say it needs to go to Akani Simbine. I mean, he was a split second away from getting a medal in the 100m. And knowing how far he has come, and how hard he has worked, I’d even give him a double Bells!

A brief summary of my year:

It was definitely a massive leap of growth for me. It was extremely tough...I had a lot of doubts, a lot of moments where I thought I might not achieve my goals.

But I really just kept my faith high and stuck to what I’d been communicating to the Lord about for the past two years. To summarise, I think the Lord has shown me His greatness and I didn’t want to let the opportunity slip away.

This year taught me to use my opportunities and to cherish them. I’ve been rewarded with so many material things, but it’s never been about that, I think the Lord gave me way beyond what I deserve.

Unsung hero:

Brad Binder – he really has dominated the sport and is world class.

Look out for...

More of me! I’ve got so much more to give!

What the sport needs for Christmas:

The athletes have got what it takes, we just need lots of love and support from all South Africans. We need the backing of spectators at our races!

Best sporting moment from another code:

I’m a massive Sevens supporter and will always back the Blitzboks and they have certainly made South Africa proud this year!

What I’m doing for the holidays:

I’m off to Liverpool to live out my childhood dream of watching Liverpool live. I’ll then be spending some time with my girlfriend and friend in the UK.

The training won’t stop, though and it will be a training holiday.
