Cape Town - On Saturday, South African athlete Wayde van Niekerk became the first athlete to run under 10 seconds for 100-metres, 20 seconds for 200m and 44 seconds for 400m, a feat confirmed by the IAAF.
Competing at the Free State Championships in Bloemfontein, Van Niekerk ran a personal best 9.98 seconds for the 100m event, beating his previous best by 0.47 seconds.
