Sandes 4th in Blue Mountain 100km

Cape Town - South African star trail runner Ryan Sandes has finished fourth in the 100km Ultra Trail Australia in the famous Blue Mountains National Park.

"I had a tough but really rewarding day out in the Blue Mountains. I had forgotten how brutal the course is with fast runnable sections combined with never ending stairs and rocky trails. I started off conservatively and during the race it felt like I could not get my legs into fifth gear and I was a bit sluggish at times. I however finished strong and was moving through the field which is nice to know with my main goal race Ultra Trail Mont Blanc 100 miler coming up in August. I am stoked with how things played out and want to think my dream givers and everyone for their incredible support, said Sandes.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
